New boost for TechBio companies seeking investment

The UK Bioindustry Association (BIA) and the Francis Crick Institute’s start-up accelerator KQ Labs have launched a new programme to support growing companies working at the interface of biology and data technologies.

KQ Labs supports evidence-based data-driven health technologies and has to date nurtured 60 start-ups at the convergence of data science, biomedical research and healthcare delivery.

This new programme of support, funded by London & Partners, is targeted at more established London-based seed and pre-series A companies looking to grow. TechBio Boost will provide mentoring with experts, guidance on scaling and company building, introductions to pharma companies and investors, and community events to further strengthen the London TechBio ecosystem.

Emma Fox, KQ Programmes lead, said: “There is a thriving ecosystem of innovative and exciting companies in the TechBio space and we are thrilled to be able to bring additional support, encouraging further investment and growth.

“TechBio Boost will bring companies together with sector leaders and specialist investors as well as providing opportunities for peer networking."

Alina O’Keeffe, Associate Director of Marketing and Communications at BIA said: "We are delighted to partner with KQ Labs on launching this groundbreaking initiative for growing techbio companies based in London. TechBio Boost represents a significant opportunity for seed and pre-series A companies to access the resources, mentorship, and investment necessary to scale their innovations.

“By bringing together industry leaders, investors, and cutting-edge TechBio companies, we aim to foster an environment where transformative ideas can thrive and make a substantial impact on healthcare and biotechnology."

TechBio Boost will commence in Autumn 2024 running over 12 weeks with an average of 2-4 hours of in-person and online sessions per week.

The application deadline is 30 June 2024. For more information about eligibility criteria and how to apply, please visit: https://www.techbioboost.org/
