Momentum Pharma breaks ground

London and Maidenhead, United Kingdom, 11 December, 2024 – Momentum Pharma has become the first organization to achieve the new Business Process Quality Certification (BPQC) standard from the International Accrediting Organization for Clinical Research (IAOCR). Demonstrating that an organization is operating at the highest industry standards across core business operations, the BPQC has been developed to assess, reward and signify an exemplary organization. This aligned perfectly with Momentum Pharma’s vision and commitment to lead a new era of Clinical Research, with quality at its core.

The BPQC has been carefully curated to review and assess three core business operational processes (Governance, Business Strategy and Workforce) of clinical research organizations to international best practices. This latest IAOCR quality standard and certification is designed for Pharma/Biotech, CROs and supply chain organizations operating within the clinical research industry who are aiming to formally demonstrate quality, excellence and adherence to global best practices in the aforementioned core business operational areas: Momentum Pharma underwent a rigorous evidence -based assessment process which showed their commitment to the BPQC journey and, in turn, the dedication to quality, the desire for ensuring high quality client experience, and the aspiration to be a ‘trusted global partner’ for clinical research

Melissa Melton, CEO and Co-Founder, said:

Our BPQC certification journey began on Clinical Trials Day, this year, which was no coincidence. At Momentum Pharma we absolutely live and breathe the values promoted on Clinical Trials Day: the pursuit of knowledge, best practice, and unwavering commitment to patient well-being. Through these values, clinical investigators, research sites and clinical trial staff work tirelessly to research new medicine and bring hope to millions of patients and their families. This became our launch pad to drive us forward in the pursuit of our goal to achieve the highest recognition possible, IAOCR Business Process Quality Certification. We are thrilled to announce that all three areas reviewed, Governance, Business Strategy and Workforce Process Quality, have fully met the rigorous assessment criteria.

The BPQC has been born out of the success of GCSA – The Global Quality Standard for Clinical Research Sites, which was developed in collaboration with the industry; it shares the already established and industry-ratified assessment framework for governance, business strategy and workforce processes which is applicable for non-site organizations including  as pharma, CROs and supply chain organizations, that need to demonstrate their strength of service offering. This certification enables them to embed quality practices and demonstrate their commitment to operational excellence in these vital core business areas.  BPQC helps to align all service providers within the clinical research ecosystem through a common quality standard; providing an internationally recognized model that enables collaborative working and continuous improvement.

“Clinical research is one of the few highly-regulated industries that had an absence of quality standards for businesses and workforce.  It is a global, multifaceted and complex industry that requires everyone in the supply chain to deliver to a high standard in order for patients to benefit from innovative treatments as safely and quickly as possible.  We are committed to delivering the accreditations that the industry needs and wants and to supporting continuous improvement and collaborative working internationally.  This is why we introduced the BPQC standard,” explains Jacqueline Johnson North, CEO, IAOCR. Momentum Pharma were keen to be the first to undertake the in-depth assessment for BPQC.  They are consistently striving for excellence and wanted independent verification of their processes to ensure they are working at the highest level, and have the solid foundations in place that are necessary for their continued fast-growth trajectory. We’re delighted they undertook the in-depth assessment process with such dedication and enthusiasm and for them to be the first organization globally to achieve the BPQC Certification.  The achievement of BPQC really is a testament to the Momentum Pharma team.

BPQC evidenced assessment process reviews three high impact areas of business operations. This global quality standard provides a system of assessment, gap analysis, process improvement and independent quality assurance certification. Developed with support from a Global Advisory Board of clinical research industry stakeholders, there has always been a shared ambition to ensure process excellence that facilitates synergistic partnerships between clinical research businesses and their clients to ensure maximum efficiency through their tailored solutions.
