Manchester Met opens applications for September cohort of degree apprenticeships in science and sustainability

Employers looking for new talent or to upskill their current workforce can benefit from degree apprenticeships, starting Autumn 2024.

Degree apprenticeships are a powerful combination of study and on-the-job learning. Apprentices can be new recruits or existing employees - an excellent opportunity for employers to develop in-house experts. Our industry-driven programmes are created with leading employers, focusing on combining valuable transferable skills and scientific knowledge. Here's a breakdown of the programmes now open for application:

Laboratory Scientist (Bioscience) Degree Apprenticeship:

  • Apprentices will gain essential technical skills including microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, disease, diagnostics, environmental monitoring, and cell biology.
  • Apprentices move into roles such as Research and Development Scientist, Molecular Biologist, Formulation Scientist, Medicinal Chemist, Process Scientist, and Microbiologist.
  • Suitable for existing employees looking to develop their careers, or new recruits.
  • Graduates will be awarded a BSc (Hons) Bioscience Degree and Level 6 Laboratory Scientist Degree Apprenticeship.
  • Teaching is primarily delivered online over four years, with occasional on-campus sessions.

Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner Apprenticeship:

Manchester Met is also offering a new level 4 higher apprenticeship programme for business looking to drive forward innovative and ambitious social and environmental change, which is essential for businesses looking to keep up with the green skills demand around the globe.

The Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner Apprenticeship is one of the six green apprenticeships awarded the Coronation Emblem in celebration of His Majesty King Charles III.

The key benefits for business include:

  • Gain project management knowledge and skills your organisation needs to address net zero goals and the climate change challenge.
  • A rapid-impact apprenticeship delivered part-time over 12 months, with an additional four months to consolidate the portfolio and project required for the end-point assessment.
  • The apprentice will be able to embed and implement social and environmental change policies and practices aligned to the needs of your organisation.
