TPCS provides a tailored portfolio of cyber services crafted specifically to meet the needs of start-ups and growing businesses in the bioindustry. In this spotlight, Kenny Boyce, Chief Executive Officer of Third-Party Cyber Security (TPCS), delves into the pivotal role TPCS plays in supporting and safeguarding the sector.

Tell us about your company and ambitions

Third Party Cyber Security (TPCS) are a cyber security firm specialising in helping growth companies provide assurance to investors, partners, and customers that cyber security is well managed within the business. Our ambition is to ensure that our clients are seen as a cyber safe investment proposition and that as the company grows, so too does their cyber capability. For our Bio Industry clients our goals are to protect their Intellectual Property and secure their digital systems whilst finding a balance that allows them to continue to flex and innovate safely.

What is your company’s biggest achievement so far?

TPCS have recently been onboarded as suppliers to a number of large Private Equity companies. These firms use us to assess the cyber security of growth firms before they place large amounts of capital into them. We also support existing portfolio companies to ensure that when its time to exit the investment, cyber security is seen as a true business enabler. Being able to help these companies grow and mature securely is a great thing.

What are some of the priorities that you’re currently working on?

At the moment TPCS are working with various stakeholders across the UK to ensure that the UK is seen as a cyber safe investment space. Attracting inward investment into the UK is critical to the future of the country and investors want to know that companies they invest in are not susceptible to cyber-attack. This is something we see as a critical priority for the UK government.

What has been the greatest benefit of being a BIA member?

In our short time as members of the BIA its clear that the UK still leads the way in Bio Tech and Life Sciences. Being able to read and hear about the research and development with this sector and see the talent on show has been a wonderful thing so far.  The opportunities to help society as a whole are endless.

What excites you about the UK life sciences sector?

There are so many benefits and things that excite me, Healthcare improvements, Scientific developments, Environmental benefits, helping the economy, attracting inward investment into the UK. The whole sector is alive with innovation and thought leadership.

If you could invite any scientist or entrepreneur to dinner, who would it be and why?

Professor Brian Cox – no matter how many times I watch the Wonders of the Solar System I still don’t fully understand all the concepts and theories. I find it utterly fascinating how these theories play into everyday life. After Dinner we could then play D:Ream songs as he was a popular member of this dance music group.
