Cancer Research Horizons opens nominations for its Innovation and Entrepreneurship Awards 2025
Cancer Research Horizons, the innovation arm of Cancer Research UK, has opened nominations for its Innovation and Entrepreneurship Awards 2025, which celebrate the UK’s most enterprising efforts in oncology by recognising the researchers and entrepreneurs who are making strides towards translating their innovations into effective treatments and diagnostics for the benefit of patients affected by cancer.
Nominations close on 17 March 2025 and can be submitted for multiple categories via self-nomination or by someone else. Nominations do not need to be funded by Cancer Research UK but must be based in the UK. All nominations will be reviewed by a judging panel of independent experts, which will be announced in the future. Award winners will receive funding, sector-wide recognition, and the chance to inspire the next generation of academic entrepreneurs.
All shortlisted nominees will be invited to attend the awards ceremony at Merchant Taylors’ Hall in London on 10 July 2025, where the winners will be announced. For team nominations, up to three representatives will be invited. This black-tie event includes a drinks reception and gala dinner, providing a unique opportunity to network with a range of rising stars, seasoned entrepreneurs, industry experts, and inspiring keynotes.
The following five awards are open for nominations:
- Early Career Entrepreneur of the Year (submit nomination)
- Entrepreneurial Group Leader of the Year (submit nomination)
- Woman Entrepreneur of the Year (submit nomination)
- New Start-Up of the Year (submit nomination)
- Further, Faster, Together (Industry–Academia Collaboration) (submit nomination)
There will also be four special awards to recognise outstanding contributions to the academic cancer entrepreneurial field, which are not open to nominations; instead, the judging panel will select winners from shortlists identified by Cancer Research Horizons.
