PACE has launched its second funding round, with up to £5 million available to support cutting-edge diagnostic projects. This funding is part of a broader £30 million investment to address the global challenge of AMR.

A record £3 billion has been raised by our sector in the first three quarters of 2021 according to our latest data released today with Clarivate. With £576m raised between June and the end of August, fundraising in 2021 has already surpassed the previous record year of 2020, when £2.8 billion was raised, with another three months of the year left to go.

Fantastic news last week from BIA member MSD as they announced plans to build a £1bn UK research hub in central London, which will strengthen the Kings Cross ‘knowledge quarter’ and build on the already existing world-class life sciences research base in the UK capital.

Today, Innovate UK’s CEO Ian Campbell announced that the Biomedical Catalyst (BMC) is being relaunched with £30m in the pot. The announcement, made on a BIA webinar, follows a consistent BIA campaign which has been running for a decade. The relaunch is great news for the UK’s innovative biotech SMEs and a great outcome for the BIA.
