UK advanced medicine manufacturing capability received a boost last week with a trio of investments.

I’m really disappointed that a positive COVID test and self isolation period means I will miss both bioProcessUK conference and the official opening of AstraZeneca’s R&D HQ in Cambridge this week - two events I was really looking forward to. I do plan to participate in the UK Government's Life Science Council as it is a virtual meeting this time around.

Following on from Roger McGilvray’s blog in June which detailed the overall aims of the BIA MAC LeaP program, I wanted to provide some insight into the follow-on instalment of our cohort’s two year journey together as it was my turn to host the group in July.

FUJIFILM Corporation is investing $83m to expand microbial production capacity of FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies in the UK. This will triple the plant’s current capacity of microbial production and it is fantastic to see an established international player like FUJIFILM making such a significant investment in its manufacturing capability in this country.
