Senior Scientist (Study Leader for CDMO Projects)

We are looking to appoint a Senior Scientist (Study Leader) on a full-time basis to join the R&D department supporting BioProduction by SEKISUI, SEKISUI’s contract service offering as a fermentation focused CDMO.
As part of a dedicated team, you will initiate, direct and execute pre-clinical scientific research and/or development strategies in research and/or development. You will investigate the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products and problems. You will maintain a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. You may be required to participate in the development of patent applications.
To be successful in this role, you will take the technical lead role in CDMO projects and provide scientific direction to project teams, assess and present data and conclusions, as well as specify the preparation of new data where required to meet project objectives. You will also take the lead role in scientific communication with CDMO clients and prepare time-critical project proposals. You will work closely to support Business Development with the assessment of new project opportunities for the Enzymes Business, representing Sekisui in discussions with the potential new client and preparing draft CDMO project plans in association with Business Development, Programme Management, R&D, Technical Operations, and Production. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert within the business in at least one Bioscience discipline (e.g. microbiology, biochemistry, analysis). You will support the Marketing function with the development of new business by preparing external scientific/technical communications.
The successful candidate will have education and / or experience in some, or all, of the following areas:
• PhD in a relevant scientific discipline combined with extensive relevant scientific experience in a (bio)pharmaceutical/biotechnology company (a minimum of 5-8 years related experience).
• A very strong base of knowledge in at least one Bioscience discipline (e.g. microbiology, biochemistry, analysis), equivalent to post-doctoral academic scientists in that discipline.
• A meticulous approach to project planning and functional skills with planning tools such as Microsoft Project.
• Demonstrated success in technical leadership, technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others, and independent thought.
• Proficiency in application of Quality by Design and Design of Experiments.
• Experience of working in cGMP or IS0 13485-compliant environment.
